London power-punk experts Alien Chicks share frenetic new single ‘Qwerty’ (video here), out today (May 28th) via Hideous Mink Records (Opus Kink, Fake Turins, Black Bordello) & SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special).
Marking the second reveal from upcoming debut EP ‘Indulging The Mobs’ (pre-order here), set for release July 18th, ‘Qwerty’ follows biting lead single ‘Steve Buscemi’ which has already attracted widespread acclaim across the tastemaker community ahead of what promises to be a busy summer of festivals.
With a UK tour support run ticked off alongside indie heavyweights English Teacher late last year, the thrilling, groove-infused trio have developed a dedicated grassroots following in recent times, with several sold-out London headliners and dates supporting Lambrini Girls, Fat Dog, Opus Kink and Warmduscher.
With support surfacing throughout the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Arielle Free, Amy Lamé), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves, as well as key indie press champions including The Independent, DIY, Dork and Rough Trade, Alien Chicks’s relentless momentum certainly continues to gather pace ahead of July’s debut EP release.
Detailing their latest effort, the three-piece explained: “‘People in every walk of life are generally insufferable and ‘Qwerty’ is a playful jibe bringing this idea to light. The nature of the human race is quite disappointing. The definition of the term “humanity” is ironic. The need for our species to progress and develop empathy is apparent. Although deceivingly small progression has been made, and a few recognise it, no real change can ever be successful without this change being worldwide.”
