No one is more relatable than Hey Violet after the release of their enigmatic new track: “Best Imposter”. In the age of social media, and instant gratification, insecurities run high, and Hey Violet put pen to paper about exactly that. The captivating new song details the universal experience of feeling imposter syndrome, no matter what level of success you’ve experienced. “For a long time, I’ve grappled with a lot of deeply-held insecurities and how those show up in my life,” Rena Lovealis admits. “I deal with a lot of self-doubt.”
But – the band wants fans to know they’re not alone, and the new track is a testament to the sense of community they have built online. The track comes on the heels of their melodic earworm “Uncomplicated” and their 2023 signing to Hopeless Records. The beloved rock trio first rose to fame after being signed to 5 Seconds of Summer’s imprint label, and they’ve built an ultra dedicated fanbase of 800,000+ fans across Instagram and Twitter alone.
Hey Violet’s Rena Lovelis shares of the Track:“Best Imposter is about experiencing intense imposter syndrome. It gives some insight into what Nia and I felt growing up, being in this in between stage where we’re sort of from New York and also sort of from California, and sort of millennial, but sort of Gen Z. We always felt like we were floating in the strange world of close, but not quite, and that really put a weight on us when people would question if we deserved certain opportunities that the band got. Like “Damn, are we supposed to be here? At the end of the day, someone will always have something to say. It’s about validating our own voices and knowing we deserve a seat at the table, in spite of any self-doubt or insecurity or anxiety.”
